DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS development – HARLEE BARFKNECHT-ZUBER
Harlee has a background in Business Marketing, graduating from Mohawk College in 2009 with a Diploma in Business Advertising. After working in industrial sales and metal recycling, Harlee made the transition over to the railroad industry 3 years ago. Working for other railroad contractors has allowed Harlee to see what works and where improvements can be implemented.
Working from the experience and knowledge of being an industrial customer, she seeks to bridge the gap between railroad contractor recommendations and industrial production and operational track requirements.
Harlee is a passionate and dedicated railroader, and she looks forward to visiting your site and creating long term maintenance plans that take into consideration safety, budgetary, and scheduling concerns unique to each customer. Harlee believes that track maintenance takes planning and should always be proactive vs reactive to avoid costly shutdowns to production.

Director of Operations – Nigel Murdza
Nigel brings with him nearly 20 years of track maintenance and construction experience. In the beginning of his career, Nigel worked on several large scale track construction projects. More recently, Nigel has spent over a decade working for PNR Railworks on track safety maintenance for Metrolinx on the Oakville Subdivision which sees nearly 400 passenger movements daily. Nigel is passionate and experienced about track safety and standards, holding his TIG certification along with his CROR, E-rail Safe and First Aid Training.
Nigel has vast experience and knowledge in a diverse range of customer track construction and maintenance situations. He is well versed in the Transport Canada requirements for Class 1, shortline and industrial track. He assesses and creates long-term maintenance plans for Iron and Oak Railroad Services' customers because he is a firm believer that consistent improvements to the track keep railways safe for everyone.
In co-founding Iron and Oak Railroad Services, Nigel is able to pass along the knowledge and passion he has for the tradition of the rail industry. Nigel’s greatest quality as a leader is his ability to empower others and share the pride he has for the railroad, an essential industry that past generations shared in along with generations to come.
